Read Email Later is a service that lets you read your e-mail newsletters on Pocket and your Kobo e-reader. It is created by Frank van Rest to let him read the great (and quite long) emails by Stratechery on his Kobo e-reader.
When you connect your Pocket-account to Read Email Later we will provide you with a special e-mail address. The content of all e-mails that are sent to this address will be added to your Pocket List. That's it!
To pay for servers and my time for maintenance and support, I ask for a small subscription fee of € 2 per month or € 10 per year. I don't like advertising and I don't want your data. I use Stripe to process these subscriptions and don't store any personal information myself. You can start a free trial of 30 days and will receive an email to reconsider before the paid subscription will start.
This provides us with your Pocket username and the possibility to add items to your Pocket List.
When you send an email to your special e-mail address, we create a HTML-file in a secret (non guessable) location with the contents of the email. We then add that secret location to your Pocket List.
See Use the Pocket App with your Kobo e-reader.
Most mail providers offer an option to set this up. See instructions for Gmail and Outlook.
That's a great question, I'm glad you asked! Out of the box, Pocket does not work with websites with paywalls like New York Times, Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal. However in combination with a service like Email This, Read Email Later can also add those articles to your Pocket account so that you can read them on your Kobo! Just use your Read Email Later e-mail address with their service.
We support all kinds of newsletters. Free e-mail newsletters like Benedict Evans Newsletter, theSkimm or Morning Brew and paid for e-mail newsletters like Stratechery, The Dispatch or Letters from an American.
